About EDG Corp

Who We Are

Established in 2013, EDG Corp Electrical Engineering Consultants are a dynamic Vancouver based engineering firm committed to being the first choice for electrical design services within the building community.

Inspired by a fundamental desire to deliver a level of service and quality, the Principals of EDG Corp are devoted to being more than just another consultant.  Steadfast in their desire to succeed, the Principals are relentless in their intent to build relationships as solid as the foundations of the buildings they are fortunate to be involved in.

Teamwork is an intrinsic part of our daily operations and our obligation to quality and excellence. While individual efforts are always encouraged and supported, EDG knows that the results of a team effort are often far better than the sum of its parts.

Our Expertise

 We provide design and consulting services for the construction industry in all sectors of building construction.  This includes design build, health care, education, retail/commercial, governmental, residential, high rises, corporate offices, hospitality and entertainment sectors.  Our design of electrical systems utilize the latest technologies while implementing cost effective measures to specific to each project requirement.  Systems typically include power distribution, lighting/lighting control systems, emergency/stand-by power systems, fire alarm, security, access control and communications systems.  These services include technical advisement and coordination with the building design team to provide specifications and design drawings for permit, tender and construction phases of the project.  Contract administration services include site field reviews, review of monthly progress claims, meetings, and timely responses to construction quires.

Dave Hans, P. Eng., Principal

As a registered professional engineer, Dave is dedicated to upholding the values of truth, honesty and trustworthiness while safeguarding human life and minding the welfare of the environment.  He has a diverse career in the electrical engineering field and brings invaluable strength to our team.  His primary focus is the preparation of electrical power, lighting and control system designs, drawings and specifications for industrial, commercial, residential, municipal, and institutional projects with emphasis on energy conservation and recovery.  His analytical, trouble shooting and field investigation experience provides a unique perspective during design embedding substantial benefit in our solutions.


Rob McCourt, Principal

Rob's corporate project experience has given him tremendous ability to deliver under any conditions.  His logical, common sense integrity that is equally seen by both Client and construction trades makes him a valuable member of the construction team.  His focused efforts have been on short term projects with tight schedules, restrictive, and concrete budgets with no room for delay or unforeseen cost.  His tremendous aptitude for maintaining long term relationships with all of his clients speaks of his commitment to getting the job done.


Glenn Granstrom, LEED AP., Principal

Glenn is an individual with an ability to make it happen.  His adaptable approach to project specific demands is well respected. A persistent conscious effort to deliver more than expected, Glenn leads our team with a pure desire to succeed while maintaining personal dignity, empathy and ethics that are foundations of our group.  As an award winning lighting designer, Glenn brings a solid understanding of the visual environment along with a knack for communicating concepts to Architects and Clients.  Glenn’s long list of clients that continue to support him speaks highly of his people first 

attitude.



 

Corporate Restaurants/Banking

A majority of our projects consist of high paced design/construction of corporate accounts through out Western Canada.  These projects typically require a quick and through design with building permit submission and a very short tender/construction stage to minimize financial impacts to the Owner/Operator.  Many of our long term Clients include McDonald's, Wendy's, Panago Pizza, Boston Pizza, White Spot/Triples O’s, Tim Horton's, Brown’s Social House, A&W, Dairy Queen, Rosemary Rocksalt, Scotiabank and HSBC.

Corporate Offices

For Corporate office spaces we have successfully completed many Lululemon Corporate and Fortinet Tenant Improvement projects, most averaging 20,000 square feet each project. These generally compose of open office furniture layouts, meeting rooms, lunch/coffee rooms, IT server rooms and client specific audio/video requirements.

Educational

Since our inception we provided design services for Douglas College, both New Westminster and Coquitlam Campuses. These projects consist of building upgrades and include unit substation/generator replacement, corridor lighting/controls, fire alarm upgrades, motor control center replacement and chiller/mechanical systems.  For the majority of these projects, EDG Corp had acted as prime consultant on behalf of the Client.  Scope of work typically comprised of design/client coordination, posting BC Bid, tender pricing review, tender close, CCDC2 documentation, contract documents, coordination of construction documents, progress claims and project close out documentation.


Prior to formation of EDG Corp, the Principals acted as the Project Manager for many educational projects with another firm.  These include Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia, Northwest Community College and First Nation projects such as Blueberry River, Coldwater, Skatin, Doig River, Outma Squilqw, Skeetchestn, Squamish Lil'wat, Xit'Olacw and TI'Etinqox Community Schools or Community Centers.
